Depending on where one watches a war film, a particular brand or tradition lingers in the storyline or characters. With tons of harrowing action, grit, and a poignant true story carrying it, this was a great film for war history buffs looking for something a little different from the more commonly depicted battles on film.

Operation Mincemeat centers on a real-life secret operation, in which the Allied forces use deception to invade Sicily in 1943 and stand strong against Hitler’s troops. The leading party of this deception is the British intelligence, but Ewen Montagu and Charles Cholmondeley are the brains behind the task. The two come up with a plan to dress a dead man’s body as an officer and let him float to the Spanish coast, carrying a letter that states Greece as the target of the invasion, in order to trick the Germans and lead them away from the real location, Sicily.
