Re: Fentanyl Trafficking Investigation

A three-county investigation has led to the arrest of four men, and another being sought.

The investigation began in Graves County concerning a recent overdose that led to the death of one man, and a woman whom also overdosed and was hospitalized. The preliminary investigation has led sheriff’s detectives to believe that the substance was fentanyl.

The first arrest was made during the early morning hours of Monday October 03 at approximately 4AM. Graves Sheriff’s detectives arrested 31-year-old Taylor D. Jones of Mayfield, on drug trafficking charges.

In an effort to track the source of supply of this deadly drug, undercover drug purchases were made in both Hickman and Carlisle Counties some of which undercover sheriff’s detectives were utilized.

During the weeklong investigation, 5 persons were identified as being responsible for counterfeit Oxycontin 30mg pills containing fentanyl being sold and making its way into communities in the Purchase Area of western Kentucky, including Graves, Hickman and Carlisle County.

On Tuesday October 04, 2022 during the afternoon hours, an undercover drug purchase was made from 58-year-old Reggie L. Martin of Clinton Ky, from a residence located within the city limits of Clinton. He was shortly thereafter taken into custody after selling several dosage units of Oxycodone.

Later that night, undercover drug purchases were made from two Bardwell Kentucky men, 67-year-old Daniel A. Lutgendorf, and 65 year old Thomas B. Jenkins. Both men were involved in the sale and transfer of the same pill that investigators believe caused an overdose death in Graves County.

At around midnight and during the early morning hours of Wednesday October 05, 2022 a search warrant was obtained and served by Carlisle County Sheriff Will Gilbert and deputies, Hickman County Sheriff Ben Natividad, Graves County Sheriff Jon Hayden and detectives, at a residence belonging to an additional suspect identified as being 45-year-old Ivory Christopher Parker. This residence was also located within the city limits of Bardwell, Ky.

During that search, investigators discovered a large stash of the counterfeit pill that is believed to contain fentanyl, and sold as being a Oxycodone 30mg.

Over 900 counterfeit pills were seized including dosage units of Oxycodone, Marijuana, Hashish, a handgun and other firearms. The street value of these pills the investigation revealed was $45.00 per pill, which would have a total street value of over $40,000 dollars. A preliminary field test was positive for the presence of Fentanyl. The resident Ivory Parker was not present.

By late Friday afternoon October 07, 2022 four persons have been charged in this investigation and a 5th is being sought.
