I Used to Go Here | Rotten Tomatoes (1) Kimber Myers Crooked Marquee I Used to Go Here balances its wistful approach to college days with genuine thoughtfulness about adulthood. Rated: B Nov 16, 2020 Full Review I Used to Go Here | Rotten Tomatoes (2) Peter Bradshaw Guardian What's so funny about the film is that it shows how very little divides your early-twentysomething self from your mid-thirtysomething self - you're never too old to be humiliated. Rated: 4/5 Sep 10, 2020 Full Review I Used to Go Here | Rotten Tomatoes (3) Claudia Puig FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) An observant and funny independent film with some very good performances. Aug 18, 2020 Full Review I Used to Go Here | Rotten Tomatoes (4) Serena Seghedoni Loud and Clear Reviews Kris Rey's comedy drama is still absolutely worth-watching for its raw authenticity, and its incredible amount of heart. I Used to Go Here is a story that needed to be told, and a much-needed investigation on life at its most real. Rated: 4/5 Aug 13, 2023 Full Review I Used to Go Here | Rotten Tomatoes (5) Keith Garlington Keith & the Movies The final act leaves you wondering about the story’s overall ambition, and the late-movie tonal shifts are distracting. Still, there are things to like and Rey dodges a lot of college movie clichés and cheap comedy tropes in telling her story. Rated: 3/5 Aug 22, 2022 Full Review I Used to Go Here | Rotten Tomatoes (6) Ayeen Forootan In Review Online [I Used to Go Here] recycles run-of-the-mill themes and heavily relies on overused stylistic formulas and indie film prescriptions. clay k Maybe I'm just old but this kind of movie - meandering and storyless - is less-than-entertaining to me in any way. I guess there's a generation out there that sees this boring, uninspired and uninspiring tale as representative of something they're going through. That might be the greater tragedy. Angst without heart. Not even the charming Gillian can save this dud. Rated 2/5 Stars • Rated 2 out of 5 stars 08/06/23 Full Review Bernard L If you stick with this film it just about rewards you with a nostalgic pang for a college life once lived. It's only in the main act of the film, a goonies-lite adventure to uncover a secret, that you really appreciate the ensemble cast. Whilst an abrupt ending is justified, I was left unsatisfied with knowing whether to appreciate the protagonists future... or not. Rated 3/5 Stars • Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/07/23 Full Review matthew r Silly and idiotic, this film is a perfect respite from the heavy-handed emotional films that pervade the industry. Gilliam Jacobs(Fear street part 1-3, Community) is as fun as she always is, although her voice...so loud. Supporting cast is above average, Rammel Chan(Matthew Lee; Thin Red Line (TV)) steals his scenes and newcomer Cindy Gold is a standout as well. If you are looking for a simple predictive fun movie, this is for you. Recommended for all although buffs and critics may scoff at its simpleness. Rated 3.5/5 Stars • Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Almost, but not quite. Kinda boring tbh...in an attempt at light hearted tragedy/comedy. Rated 1/5 Stars • Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member In somewhat the same vein as (the superior film) "Liberal Arts," Gillian Jacobs' lead performance is appealing and relatively believable in its depiction of an early-mid-life crisis, when her literary first effort bombs just after she realizes that her marriage plan wouldn't work either.
