Welcome to my Instant Pot Rice Recipes. Lots of new and exciting ways to use the rice setting on your Instant Pot.

These Instant Pot recipes are perfect for beginners that want to get to grips with the Instant Pot but don’t know where to start.

I am trying to think back to my first experience of rice and it would have to be having rice pudding at school dinners when I was in primary school.

It was always served with a little jam on top just like Dominic made for me in this recipe.

It was always delicious and you would always want to go back for some seconds. Also because the rice was so filling you never felt like you wanted anything else for hours and hours.

I didn’t know anyone that didn’t like it, it was just that good.

So as you would say, I started my rice journey with sweet rice NOT savoury. Though I was never a fan of the rice out of a can. You can keep that as it is just not the same as the real thing.

My journey with the savoury variety always surrounded my love for a curry. Give me a delicious butter chicken from the Indian restaurant and serve it with pilau rice and I am in serious food heaven.

I mean how can you not love Indian food? It is truly amazing!

But whatever your addiction with rice may be there is always a dish out there for you.

FAQs

Do you seal or vent an Instant Pot when cooking rice? ›

Rice can release starchy water as it cooks, and you don't want to risk that starch clogging the vent in the lid of your Instant Pot. Make sure you move the steam release valve to sealing. This is a common mistake, and will result in hard, under-cooked rice that will eventually stick to the bottom of your pot.

How much water for 1 cup of rice in an Instant Pot? ›

I've tested different rice to water ratios and found that a 1 to 1 water to rice ratio works best for Instant Pot rice. This means that for every cup of rice you need one cup of water. Measure carefully, and use the same measuring cup for both the water and the rice so that your measurement is precise.

How much water do you put in rice for instant rice? ›

The first thing you need to know when it comes to cooking ANY of our Instant varieties is that you will use equal amounts of water and rice, for a 1:1 ratio. It's as simple as that!

How much water for 2 cups of rice? ›

For tender grains of rice that easily separate, such as in a pilaf, use 2 cups of water for every 1 cup of rice. You can also use another liquid like stock in this 2:1 ratio. For slightly chewier, fluffy white rice, use 1 1/2 cups of water for every cup of rice, or a 1.5:1 ratio.

Do Instapots cook rice well? ›

So long, rice cooker! This Instant Pot rice comes out perfectly every time. Fluffy and flavorful, it's delicious as a side dish, in grain bowls, and more.

Should you cook rice with a vented lid? ›

The Right Equipment to Cook Rice

Similar to pasta, you'll be using a boiling liquid as a cooking medium, so make sure you have enough room for bubbles to rise without boiling over. A lid with an adjustable steam vent is nice, but not crucial — you can always prop the lid open with a wooden spoon or pair of chopsticks.

Does a rice cooker need a vent? ›

The vent hole allows steam to escape and acts as a natural gauge of how much steam is being created in the pot. If there's too much steam or pressure in the pot, the vent will allow just the right amount to escape so your rice isn't soggy (the result of not letting any steam escape).

How long to cook 2 cups of white rice? ›

Use heat-safe plastic wrap and cook until the liquid is completely absorbed (about 15 minutes for 2 cups of rice). Fluff and season before serving. Use a fork to fluff the grain, seasoning as you do this.

How many minutes to cook rice in a pressure cooker? ›

Here are my preferred cooking times for rice in the pressure cooker: Brown rice: 20 minutes on high pressure for firm rice, or 22 minutes for softer grains. White rice: 15 minutes on low pressure for firm rice, or 17 minutes for softer grains.

How much does 1 cup of instant rice make cooked? ›

The amount of uncooked rice that yields 1 cup of cooked rice can vary depending on the type and variety of rice. In general, the ratio is about 1:3, which means 1 cup of uncooked rice will yield approximately 3 cups of cooked rice.

How many cups of water for 4 cups of instant rice? ›

When making Instant Pot Rice you need 1 cup of water for every cup of rice, regardless of if you cook just 1 cup or 4 cups. This is different when you cook rice on the stovetop where evaporation happens. The more rice you cook the less water you need when using a regular pot on the stove.
